Cathleen Faubert, Norman
Art 365 Project: Accords & Discords
Fabuert received one of five Art 365 awards
of $12,000 to produce new artwork for the Art
365 exhibition.
Scents
bring back memories. Aromas surprise and intrigue us. Motivated to explore the olfactory
role in our experience of place, Faubert collects and distills material from
Oklahoma’s distinct eco-regions. Previously working primarily in photography,
Faubert has trained her nose so she can translate her experiences of Oklahoma
through fragrances. Using aroma chemicals in conjunction with collected
components, she creates imagined, aromatic landscapes for viewers to explore.
