Reading: Public Art, the Business Perspective

Much of the discussion of public art focuses on publicly-funded projects, but we know that private businesses too commission important art! This article from Art Focus Oklahoma highlights several business who make art a part of their business strategy and visible part of their public spaces. For instance, Iguana Mexican Grill commissioned local artists to create large scale murals to table tops, to make the restaurant attractive and distinctive.

OVAC is focusing on public art to encourage more Oklahoma artists to make large-scale projects. ASK workshops will be held August 22 in Tulsa and August 29 in Tulsa to help artists apply for public commission and to receive the Oklahoma Public Art Mentorship commissions totaling $75,000.
