Michael Benton - Wood and Marquetry
Benton describes himself as a “painter of wood.” He is a self-trained craftsman specializing in marquetry, in which he applies inlay to create designs on clocks, boxes, wall décor, and other products. What started as a hobby working with brass and copper clocks led Michael to his current passion six years ago.

Most Important:
Benton stresses that he does not use any stains or dyes; he prefers to let the natural qualities of the wood come through with just a simple coat of protective lacquer. He said he uses recycled materials as much as possible and each piece is one of a kind.
