Holiday Open Studios and Art Markets

Just like that, 2011 is almost over. Before we can start making our new year’s resolutions, however, we must make our way through the holiday season. It’s a busy time for many but I hope you’ll make time to incorporate your local art community in your holiday plans.

Many Oklahoma galleries and artists are hosting special holiday art markets and open studios. These events are a great place to meet local artists, purchase handmade gifts, and avoid the madness at the mall. To help you get started, here are a few events to watch for.

The Fringe women's art organization is having a "Groj Sale" at the Yoga Room December 3rd and 4th! Artists will be selling mostly smaller works for dirt cheap! Great idea for gifts! http://fringeokc.com/events/

Winter Thyme Bazaar Art Market – Sat. Nov. 26 10-4, Norman

Fine art by local artists including jewelry, wearable art, prints, glass art, paintings, ceramics, and more. Norman’s Native Spirits Winery will offer free samples and vintage for special holiday gifts. Live music by Jahruba and others throughout the day. Soothing massage by donation. The market makes for a fun outing with out of town guests. Patrons, Art Lovers, Christmas present shoppers, Wheelers & dealers...here's your chance to help raise money for our Community Driven art space in a show with all original works, ranging from oil paintings to pottery, starting under $100. The funds raised will be used to continue providing a comfortable work environment for OKC artists as well as building out more space, creating storage and assisting in community efforts such as Oklahoma's Foster Care Program and other local endeavors.

The Shawnee Art Show & Sale will be held at the Municipal Auditorium, 401 N. Bell, Shawnee on December 2,3,4. There will be 14 Artists showing and selling their work. It is opem from 10 to 5 on Friday and Saturday and Noon to 4p.m on Sunday. It is a wonderful time to Invest in Art!
