Tulsa Art Studio Tour Artist: Mark Hawley

A master woodworker who builds his own prototypes and custom furniture pieces, Hawley received a degree in product design from the University of Oklahoma. He works with a production team in his design studio on furniture commissions for clients nationwide and in multiple furniture collections. His work has been featured in numerous national publications, including the New York Times and Interior Design, and his Cat Chair was the featured cover of the Neiman Marcus Christmas Catalog.

Most Important:
Hawley wrestles with the conflict between furniture as function and furniture as art. He said, “If it is functional it is often not as radical as I would like.”  Constantly exploring new forms, processes and materials, Hawley enjoys the challenges.
