To give insight into the works included in the 24 Works on Paper exhibition, Ryan Pack has interviewed some of the participating artists about their work in the show. The exhibition continues through August 8 at IAO Gallery, 811 N Broadway in downtown OKC. It will then travel the state for a full year.
Nick Bayer
Ryan: How has society influenced your art? Are there any social implications in your piece?
Nick: I am often puzzled sometimes on how our society works, how traditions are never questioned and people seem to just do what’s always been done. My work often asks why we do what we do. I tackle these subjects appropriating all kinds of sources from pop culture to agriculture. I then play with orientation and the juxtapositions of different images to take away its original meaning and create new outcomes.
